In The Cards

The In The Cards paper craft is a creative way to communicate your love through a personalized playing card and box. A standard deck of 52 cards fits inside the box.
Replace one of the cards in a full deck with a unique photo playing card and have your loved one search for your hidden message; or just use the customized box to present a single personalized playing card.
The playing card has a heart shaped photo on the front and a note on the back where you may write a romantic message such as "It was in the cards for us to be together."
You may also personalize the letter of the card to a Q or K and write "You will always be my Queen / King" or related message.
Fill in the PDF text fields to personalize the name and the front and back message on the box.
Adobe® Reader® is required to open this file. If you don't already have it on your system you can get it free.

Instructions

Download the personalized template PDF above.
Click and highlight the wording in the PDF form fields to personalize with the name of your sweetheart and your own message.

Click the print button or File, Print and select Current page (page 2 only) before printing the box.
Set paper quality/type to best on card stock paper before printing and load printer tray with card stock paper.

Use the paper clip to score the fold lines on the back. The fold line guides are the blue dashed lines.
Line up the paper clip on the fold line guide, then place the ruler next to it to keep straight. Push down and slide clip along guide lines. Repeat for each fold line.

Once all fold lines are scored, use the craft knife to cut out each piece. When cutting, keep the cut path on the line so that you do not see white around the edges. A ruler can be used for long straight lines.
You can also use a scissor.

Cut the thin black line as shown. This will help keep the flap secure when closed.

The final cutout is as shown.

Fold down on each of the score lines to form the card box. Start with the middle by folding in half, then the sides and top.
Place double sided tape or glue on the grey rectangles along the sides.

Place the side with writing on top of the double sided tape grey squares.
The sides should be flush with the bottom fold and top tab as shown before pressing down.

Use a pen or scoring tool and place inside to press down on the tape or glue to secure along the whole side as shown.
Repeat for the other side.

Follow the Personalized Playing Card Instructions to make your own card.
Once the card is complete, you can add a deck of real cards to make searching for one card more fun.
Fold the top flap in to complete the box.
